Haitian People Devastated by Earthquake
Dear Friends,

There are no words adequate to describe the heartsickness I know we all share for the devastated Haitian people- thousands dead and thousands more hurt and homeless. Like many with loved ones in Haiti, we watch in anguish the news portraits of human suffering, which coupled with lack of communication increases our pain and frustration. As of today, Father Guidice has not been able to make contact with his Haitian colleagues, Father Pardo, Father Luc or the Salesian Mission. As we receive any information, we will contact you either by phone, email or letter.

For the last 22 years, the Providence Haiti Outreach has been blessed with many loyal, generous friends and supporters. As the initial trauma of the earthquakes subsides and we can better appraise where our help can be of most use, we will be there with aid, supplies and plans to rebuild. As always, 100% of any donations to the Providence Haiti Outreach are made directly available to Haitians in need and the hundreds of children associated with the Pat Pezzilli Memorial School. In the wake of this current devastation, our children will need your help more than ever.

If a tragedy such as this earthquake has any affirmative aspect, it is the way it unifies humankind. As someone was quoted in a recent news story “We are all Haitians now.” As we say our prayers for the Haitian people and the children of our school, we must remain hopeful in the knowledge that God hears us and will help guide us through this terrible time.

Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.”

Sincerely,

Susan Whipple
